Bilingual CS Specialist for Nonprofit

We run a food helpline that connects New Yorkers in need to the thousands of free resources in the city. We’re recruiting a customer service specialist to support the callers on our helpline.

You’ll be on the front lines, helping people in need get access to food. This is incredibly rewarding work. A typical day will involve fielding inbound texts (some calls) & referring neighbors in need to free food resources.

In every interaction we seek to treat clients with the respect and dignity they deserve. That means that we don’t rush to finish a call, instead we listen and learn from every single caller. And, it goes without saying that we never talk down to a client.


+ Fully bilingual in English & Spanish. Must have strong speaking, reading, and writing skills in both languages.
+ Strong interpersonal skills & customer service instinct
+ Experience in hospitality or customer service preferred
+ Deep empathy & respect for those in need
+ Comfortable with using & learning new technology
+ Strong/stable internet connection with a quiet place to work

This job is 100% remote but ideally, you live in NYC or have lived in NYC long enough to have knowledge of the geography of the five boroughs AND/OR familiar with Philadelphia, PA.

This is a temporary contract position working 24-40 hours per week at $15 per hour, depending on call volume & your schedule. The day of week can vary, but you should be able to answer the phones from 10am-6pm.
